This tour can be perfectly included in the ½ day spice tour leaving from Stone Town. We suggest you drop off at Mtoni Palace before to start the Spice Tour for a 20 minutes guided tour of Mtoni Palace Ruins.
The tour will connect us with the birthplace of Princess Salme, daughter of the first Sultan of Zanzibar. During the tour, while we explore and learn the history of this beautiful site, we will be also treated to a traditional coffee ceremony in the romantic courtyard of the Palace.
The visit will start with a short historical tour of the Palace followed by the coffee ceremony in the beautiful courtyard. The ceremony shows us the traditional process, used since the Princess Salme time, of roasting the coffee mixed with the typical spices of the island. Some local sweets as alua and kashata are served at the end of the preparations together with the spice coffee.
Entrance fees will in total go towards the Conservation Project of the Ruins.
