Overview

The Wildebeest/ migration heads north, through the park, and towards the Kenyan border where it will arrive by end of July…August…..September It is from this point that the migration takes on one of its most spectacular and deadly advances: – the river crossings; in the Serengeti the Mbalangeti and Grumeti rivers, and in Kenya, the most famous crossing; the Mara river. For most of the year these rivers are relatively placid and often dry, but come to the rains they become violent torrents presenting major obstacles to the progress of the wildebeest.

Day
1
Arusha – Ngorongoro

Pick up from Arusha and transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. You will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngoro Ngoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually be seen here.

Day
2
Ngorongoro to Central Serengeti ( Seronera area)

After breakfast depart to central Serengeti the entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. The areas that you visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals and include lions, leopards (in the acacia trees), and cheetahs.

Day
3
Central Serengeti ( Seronera area) to Lobo Area

After breakfast we will head towards the Serengeti National Park, leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the Lobo area which is located just north of the Seronera area (central Serengeti National Park). The wildebeest migration normally passes through the Lobo area every year around July / August en-route to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve and again in late October / November en-route to the southern Serengeti National Park. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.

Day
4
Serengeti (Lobo area) – Northern Serengeti (Wagakuria area)

After breakfast, we head towards the far northern reaches of the Serengeti National Park, also known as the Wagakuria. We will do a game drive en-route from the Lobo area to the Wagakuria area. As we head north, good sightings of giraffes, plain game, herds of buffalo, and elephants can often be seen.A long stretch of the Mara River runs through the northern Serengeti National Park and the Mara River provides the migration with its most difficult obstacle. Witnessing the frantic herds of wildebeest crossing the Mara River is amazing.

Day
5
Northern Serengeti (Wagakuria area)

After breakfast enjoys a full-day game drive in the Wagakuria area. Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in the Wagakuria area, with pride of lions up to 30 strong, however, from August to October the area turns into a wildlife paradise. This area is a stunning region with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation, and open plains, similar to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Day
6
Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti

After breakfast you will have a half-day game drive at Mara river area, later afternoon you will depart to central Serengeti Seronera We head to the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We enjoy a game drive en-route.
We arrive in time for dinner and enjoy ourselves.
