A day you’ll never forget! After lunchtime, our car will pick you up at your hotel to transfer you to the tiny fishing village of Michamvi, at the far end of a peninsula on the east coast. The mangrove forest of Michamvi is shaped in such a way that there is a channel cutting out an “island”. The tour therefore depends on the tides: at low tide we walk through the channel, touring that “island”. We may meet all kinds of crustaceans and sea animals on the way, which are hiding in the sands (wear good shoes!). At high tide we go through the channel in a traditional wooden canoe, at very low speed. In this case we may see quite a few birds that are feeding on fish.
The tour through the channel in both cases takes approx. 1 to 1 ½ hours. After touring the channel, if time allows, you are free to swim and relax at the beach. Late afternoon you will board again and enjoying a beautiful Zanzibari sunset you head towards the famous Rock Restaurant, an exquisite place rising on a rock not distant from the shore of the Michamvi Pingwe beach. Eating at Rock Restaurant is an experience you can’t miss: colours, relish and sensations blend together in unique magic. It will be hard to choose: Crab, prawns, fish carpaccio, squid, octopus, lobster??? Of course also non-fish eaters are catered for!
Back by boat to the shore after dinner and our car will return you safely to your hotel.
